Quote Of The Moment #0068
Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) is a group of veterans from Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. We are committed to saving lives and ending the violence in Iraq by an immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces. We also believe that the governments that sponsored these wars are indebted to the men and women that were forced to fight them and must give their Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airmen the benefits that are owed to them upon their return home.
We welcome all active duty, reservist, and recent veterans into our ranks.

Look, guys: I'm a veteran fresh back from Iraq; I think the whole idea of going there was lousy. But the worst thing, I thought, about going to Iraq was this: once we were there, there's no backing out. Consider what will happen if we back out at this moment. Consider how many special interests want the new Iraqi government to fail. Consider how much Iran, or Al Qaeda, Or a thousand corporations from all over the world, would like to take a bite out of Iraq. While the government we're setting up there will be imperfect, I think that allowing it a chance to come of age is far preferable to the alternative: an Iraq that is plunged into chaos. It was too late to back out of Iraq the minute the first tank crossed the border from Kuwait. I'd imagine that we will be there for ten years. -- Posted by: Owen Price on August 19, 2004 02:03 PM
