Hitchcock's Rock Collects No Moss
by Sarah Rodman
Robyn Hitchcock, Rock 'n' Roll's favorite demented uncle, has descended from the attic again to drop more bizarre musings wrapped in gorgeous Folk Pop.
Moss Elixir brims with spiraling acoustic guitars, Baroque Pop horn and
string touches, and Hitchcock's nasal bray. The strange but lovely "Man With A Woman's Shadow" evokes Neil Young with salty harmonica, and the shimmery, Beatlesque "Beautiful Queen" is a quirky love song.
As always with Uncle Robyn, the lyrics are dotty, colorful, metaphoric, and plain nonsensical. But there's always room for pungent inanity in Rock 'n' Roll.
