Robyn Hitchcock And Grant-Lee Phillips: Comedic Duo
Robyn Hitchcock and Grant-Lee Phillips are a delightful couple -- funny and the like. No, really, they are. They also have many many things in common. They have both left Warner Brothers Records. They have both released new CDs exclusively online since their split with WB (not "The WB", mind you, for then there would be demons and/or gingham). Both have played the infamous Largo club in L.A. And -- here's the kicker -- they have decided to embark on a short West Coast tour together this June. And we guarantee the shit will be funny. In related Hitchcock news, Robyn is writing a novel, his first, and it will be out next year (and anyone that writes a book is immediately smart). Also, Jonathan Demme's Hitchcock concert film Storefront Hitchcock is out now on DVD. As for Grant, well he is currently recording with Jon Brion (again -- this means instant cred) for an upcoming album out later this year. On what label? Me not know! He is currently talking to other major labels who might be interested. If he does not decide on a label, he could release the record strictly online as well (robots are great).
