Nigger Psychoanalysis
When the Christian Science Monitor reported, a few months back, that, "For U.S. soldiers wondering what they should and should not do in their role as occupiers of Iraq, help may be on the way from the Israel Defense Forces," this blog jokingly noted the occasion by remarking that, "You can't make this shit up."
But it turns out that it wasn't a joke. The New York Times has now noticed that the military's "new approach" in responding to the resistance -- "wrapping entire villages in barbed wire", for example -- "is beginning to echo the Israeli counterinsurgency campaign in the occupied territories."
Indeed, it's been acknowledged that, "Ahead of the war, Israeli defense experts briefed American commanders on their experience in guerrilla and urban warfare" (what was it that Dick Cheney and friends said about expecting to be welcomed as liberators?), and that, "American officers had recently traveled to Israel to hear about lessons learned from recent fighting there."
The tactics, of course, are -- besides being a major violation of the Geneva Conventions (what else is new?) -- completely idiotic.
Not only are "liberated" Iraqis royally pissed off ("I see no difference between us and the Palestinians. We didn't expect anything like this after Saddam fell," says one), but U.S. support of the Israeli occupation was one of the bin Ladenites' three principle grievances -- grievances that found great resonance in the Arab world, even if it didn't approve of their methods of addressing these grievances. Aping the Israelis isn't likely to win over many "hearts and minds" in the Arab World.
But that's only to be expected, apparently. For, in justifying the "provisional" authority's "new" population-control tactics in Iraq (new for Iraq, perhaps, though thoroughly tested in Vietnam, The Philippines, Central America, Colombia, Iran, Indonesia, East Timor, etc.), Capt. Todd Brown, a company commander with the Fourth Infantry Division, argues that, "You have to understand the Arab mind. The only thing they understand is force -- force, pride, and saving face."
This blog would normally, in response to such an assertion, offer up a series of sarcastic rejoinders concerning the "redneck mind", or the "military mind". But this particular comment is so disguntingly vile that the blogger can only hang his head in shame.
Can't help wonder, however, if the military actually believed this fucking crap, why it waited until eight months into the occupation to initiate this campaign? Why did it waste so much time and so much of its taxpayers' money, having been aware for the entire period that the "Arab mind" was incapable of appreciating the occupation's hertofore "friendly" tactics? (You know: shooting civilians dead, selling off the country's resources to White House cronies, watching in bemusement as anarchy gripped the country and nuclear waste went missing, failing to clean up its radioactive weapons and unexploded cluster bombs -- and blaming it all on Saddam Osamadama.)

hey there, remember me, shithead? I figured I'd check back and look at your worthless waste of e-space of a website now that Saddam had been caught, and lo and behold--Eddie has not posted since Saddam's capture! But Eddie, it's been about 5 days now!! Surely you could've come up with SOMETHING to say about it, one way or another! I guess what you've been doing is maddeningly searching all your bullshit resources for some quote or factoid that would support your inane arguments...apparently to no avail. Come on Eddie, why so quiet? Tell us what we need to hear, how Saddam's capture was in actuality a black mark on our country or some such rubbish. Hurry up and respond because both of your readers (the other guy and me) are anxiously waiting for you to enlighten us, since we're obviously way too stupid to arrive at our own conclusions about the war (this would, of course, be the implicit assumption behind this entire "blog", that everyone in the country is too stupid to understand why we're fighting this war, and Eddie is going to enlighten our barbaric minds).
how ironic is it that Eddie, who tacitly claims to be a champion of the Iraqi people, would rather have let Saddam go on running the country over there (ensuring decades more strife and travail) than take him out quickly, cause a year's worth of confusion, but give the Iraqi people (those open minded enough to embrace it) hope for a better tomorrow. with any luck Eddie, as this story unfolds, it will be YOU who is exposed for being the boob you are, as a foundering Iraq will eventually right itself (with our help) and the people over there will be a lot better off than they are now. If you weren't such a whiny ass bitch, Eddie, you'd understand that change of this magnitude takes time. You cannot topple a dictator who has ruled with an iron fist for a quarter of century and expect smooth sailing 3 weeks later. It's going to take some time. Get the fuck over it.
As for you bemoaning what that American officer said, you unfortunately do not seem to realize that while his statement certainly lacked tact, it was not entirely untrue. Arabs are a very proud people and do not take kindly to outsiders telling them how it's going to be, even if it's for their own good. Furthermore, we all need to keep in mind that these people are muslims, and Islam, despite what some might say, is not a peaceful religion--or at least it isn't practiced peacefully. If you doubt, ask yourself why Islamic countries are always at war with SOMEBODY. Or, juxtapose Islam with Christianity: Christ said to turn the other cheek; muslims pray for vengeance and death on their enemies. Considering this type of thinking is engrained in these people from day one, is it any surprise they do not welcome us with open arms when members or their families may have been inadvertently killed in this invasion? And you can stop your bellyaching about inadvertent death before you start. War is hell, people die, get the fuck over it. In this case, people were dying without a war being fought--why the hell weren't you bitching about Saddam doing it to his own people? People like you help make Saddam a martyr in the eyes of the ignorant.
Like the previous poster said, the door's always open. Kindly show yourself out.
p.s. sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm not really one of your "readers". I only check this piece of shit once a blue moon, e.g. when a bit of big news happens, like Saddam's capture. I guess that only leaves you with one reader. thank God. -- Posted by: Greg Taylor on December 17, 2003 09:32 PM
Still not understanding why you titled it "Not Counting Niggers" that's a very racist word (you know which one I am referring to) and it really has nothing to do with anything that you are writing about. EXPLAIN!!! NOW!! or you can just "BURN IN HELL!" ~(Stewie) -- Posted by: Confused on December 19, 2003 10:12 PM
Dear confused, if you had read Orwell's essay, you would understand. Secondly, Greg, please read "Orientalism" be the late Edward Said. Islam is not a hateful religion, you are taking the actions of a few fundamentalists and transposing their beliefs and ideas upon the masses. What you have done Greg, is rascist.
More importantly, there is something that scares me. These issues of globalization, war, Iraq, terrorism, international relations. All of these are very complex issues that the Average person cannot understand. Not because the average person isn't smart enough, far from it. It is not a matter of intelligence, it is a matter of time. Those who have jobs working 40-50 hours a week do not have the time to read "Foreign Affairs" (a deep critic on the Iraq war) or any other major journal publication of such quality. There are so many great writers on these important issues such as Fareed Zakaria, Robert Kaplan, Huntington, Ikenberry, i appologize for the mispellings of some of those names and for many of the words in this post, and i appologize for this appology but i'm basically writing freestyle and not proofreading. But many of the arguments of Greg Taylor, and other "non-readers" seems to suggest not a lack of intelligence, but a lack of time put into their own thoughts and arguments. Greg, i hope you can please understand this, do not argue based on emotion, you will win nobody over but yourself; and it will result in bullshit arguments but instead learn to question your own personal beliefs first. Then standback, and question Eddie's arguments, and argue based on intellectual content. -- Posted by: Fuck it on December 20, 2003 10:44 PM
"Fuck It" This site is proof that you don't need to have any facts, fiction is truly more fun to write.
Ed. Response: Care to give some examples? No, didn't think so.
