A Friendly Reminder
The he-said-she-said nature of the Niger Uranium Scandal, as well as the ferocity with which the media has seized upon the central debate, is more than a little comical.
To wit, if "The President knew" he was lying, well then, we've got to get to the bottom of this. If, on the other hand, the CIA had "cleared" Bush's State of the Union address, then it's time to "move on". It was George Tenet's fault, and the President still has "confidence in the men and women who work at the CIA". Game, set, match.
Everybody can go back to sleep, right? Er.... The friendly reminder: Regardless of who "cleared" the specific statement, it was perfectly obvious long before the war that the Bush Administration was well aware that Saddam's regime posed no threat whatsoever -- and that it never would have contemplated attacking Iraq if it thought Iraqis might be able to defend themselves. Moreover, even if Iraq had maintained its banned weapons programmes throughout the '90s, it would have been the height of hypocrisy to single out Iraq for deploying the "world's most dangerous weapons" while not taking stock of the threat to world peace posed by our own weapons programmes.

hey Eddie! Remember me!? This is the first time I've visited in months, since March or April, I can't remember. Just thought I'd check in and see if you were still waging your self-important war against our country. Looks like you are. Why do I say self-important? Because from looking at June and July, it looks like you're averaging about 0.4 replies per essay or thereabouts. Doesn't look like The Gospel According to Eddie is getting out too well, Eddie. Maybe you should buy some TV advertising time. Hey Eddie, be sure to vote for Bush in the upcoming presidential election. If you don't, you won't have anyone to complain about! Then--GASP--what will be your justification for existence? What will be the justification of this dumb-as-a-box-of-hammers website? Then again, I suppose it's a completely moot point who wins the presidency. Since you're so brilliant Eddie, you ALWAYS have a better way...as I believe I pointed out in one of my previous posts. You called it irrelevant psycho-analysis. The thing is, since complaining is your life's motif, no one will ever take anything you say seriously since nothing will ever satisfy you because you're only happy when you're complaining. I guess you haven't noticed in life yet that people who do nothing but complain are pretty much completely ignored by everyone else; if they can't be satisfied, who's going to bother trying? It was psycho-analysis, but it was far from irrelevant.
Yes Eddie, you're nothing more than a syndrome. Enjoy yourself! And remember, there's nothing wrong with being a legend in your own mind! ;) p.s. Eddie, you never did tell your legions of readers anything about yourself! We want to know! How old are you, what do you do for a living (I can't imagine you're all that busy seeing as you apparently have so much free time on your hands to dick around with this website), in what part of the country do you live, etc? I'm especially interested to know what your professional occupation is. You can tell a lot about a person based on what they do. What could be so noble a cause as to get the Great Eddie Tews to rise out of bed in the morning and devote himself to it day in and day out? I mean, smart people tend to look for jobs in fields they consider fun; that, or they take up work if it's something about which they feel very strongly (e.g. congressmen want to get laws passed). What was it that Eddie Tews himself settled on?? The masses want to know. If you don't answer I think we can safely assume you're probably some deadbeat grown-up nerd who has a job swapping out computer parts at a shop somewhere, or maybe a pool man or some other brainless occupation, but one that places you so low on the socio-economic ladder that you've come to despise capitalism and favor socialism...just like the "niggers" of America whose voice you purport to champion.
p.p.s. do you realize, Eddie, that the reason this country has historically been so popular to immigrants is because we are a capitalist society? there are places in the world where it doesn't matter how smart or hardworking you are, you cannot make a decent living let alone imagine getting ahead b/c the incumbent government or dictator will just take it from you. So people have swarmed to our country because they know that here they have a real opportunity to make something of themselves. So, if all kinds of people from all over the world want to live here because they're willing to work hard and want to be able to enjoy the fruits of their labors (i.e. NOT have to give it all away like a socialist society), what does that say about you, Eddie? It would appear that you must be right and the rest of the ENTIRE WORLD must be wrong! That seems perfectly reasonable, no? -- Posted by: Bill Whitlock on July 17, 2003 08:26 PM
I can't wait to hear Eddie Tew's latest defense of how US troops killing Saddam's sons in a firefight was a crime against humanity; how they were actually "not all that bad" or that they probably were "liked by most Iraqis" or some such blather. Yes Eddie, we're all anxiously awaiting your latest characterization of extremely bad, evil men as "good, down-to-earth guys, just like you and me." Lay it on us, Eddie. I'm sure the world is a worse, sadder place without Odai and Qusai around. While you're busy writer your usual senseless drivel, I'm gonna go drink a beer with the rest of America and celebrate! Peace out, douchebag! --Bill p.s. I saw your pictures! You look EXACTLY how I expected you to. How unsurprising... -- Posted by: Bill Whitlock on July 23, 2003 08:15 PM
