Hitchcock Hitches Up With Rhino
Rhino Records To Reissue Nine Robyn Hitchcock Albums Beginning January 24

LOS ANGELES -- Rhino Records, the world's premier musical archival label, is proud to announce a deal made with singer-songwriter-musician extraordinaire Robyn Hitchcock to reissue nine albums, with the first three due to hit retail January 24.

The albums (available in CD format only) will have a suggested retail list price of $15.98, and will consist of material recorded between 1980-1987 (which you hard-core fans know to be post-Soft Boys/pre-A&M). This represents in many ways some of the best work the Englishman has ever written and recorded. Most of these albums have only been available previously as imports and will be making their first legitimate CD appearances in the U.S.. All titles will also be sold through Rhino Mail Order at 1-800-432-0020.

The special "Rhino touch" has gone into the reissuing of these underappreciated-yet-classic recordings, with improved sound and packaging -- as well as the involvement of the artist himself. Hitchcock has not only penned now liner notes (with assistance from ex-Seattle Rocket mainstay Grant Alden), but his aid has also yielded additional bonus tracks (including many previously unreleased demos), new photos and artwork, and a compilation of never-before-heard rarities (currently residing in his mother's attic) that will be released at the end of the project as You & Oblivion.

The nine albums will be released in three batches of three beginning with Black Snake Diamond Role, Gravy Deco (The Complete Groovy Decay/Decoy Sessions) and I Often Dream Of Trains on January 24; Fegmania!, Gotta Let This Hen Out!, and Element Of Light on Feburary 28; and finally Invisible Hitchcock, Eye, and You & Oblivion on March 28.

Rhino has also planned a special "Tell A Friend" campaign, which consists of a bounce-back card inside all releases that the buyer returns to Rhino with the name and address of a friend. The buyer will receive a limited edition Hitchcock lithograph, and the friend will receive a free sampler cassette.

Robyn Hitchcock was born on March 3, 1953, in London, England, and received early recognition as the leader of the Cambridge pre-Alternative/post-Psychedelic Rock group The Soft Boys. Since the breakup of The Soft Boys in 1980, Hitchcock has performed as both a solo artist and as leader of Robyn Hitchcock And The Egyptians, garnering much critical praise and establishing a significant and fanatical following all over the world.

Hitchcock's bent, dark, and twisted storytelling -- combined with his highly melodic Pop sensibilities -- have made him one of the most unusual and entertaining singer-songwriters of his generation. Hitchcock's singular style is a blend of his own quirky, offbeat nature mixed with the sounds of such childhood influences as The Beatles, The Byrds, early Pink Floyd, and Bob Dylan.
