Robyn Hitchcock: Marquee

Ah, a gig. I remember these. Here is one in which a tall man who is a bit ill prompts much appluase and discussion of prawns. With The Egyptians solidly pushing him on to exhaustive tomfoolery and shenanigans, it's a wonder the music matters at all, but it does because electric guitar songs such as "Brenda's Iron Sledge", "Heaven" and "Goodnight I Say" are perfect Pop for now people who had a good time then, too.

Life's rich tapioca is smeared over the walls and licked off by Cerberus, age unknown but apetite raunchy. An encore of half of "Listening To The Higsons" including the lie "I'm running out of living" is cruelly cute. There's more life in Hitchcock's head than can be found in a month of suntans. A shooting star for whom the title shot beckons.
